What this service does — and what it will never claim.

Wild Chime watches published Recreation.gov permit availability and tells you when availability matches the alert rule you selected: the remaining trip together, or individual nights plus the remaining trip. Everything below is written to be read once, in full, before you rely on it.

Eight things to know before you rely on us

  1. Affiliation Wild Chime is an independent service and is not affiliated with Recreation.gov, the U.S. Forest Service, the National Park Service, or any land-management agency. We are not endorsed by them, we cannot speak for them, and we cannot influence a permit decision.
  2. Source changes We read a public Recreation.gov availability source that we do not control. It can be reorganised, rate-limited, or withdrawn without notice, and an opening we report can change before booking — a permit released to everyone at once is often gone within minutes. What we send you is a signal to go and look, never a place held for you.
  3. Best effort Monitoring and notification delivery are best effort. Checks run on a shared schedule, but rate limits, retries, outages, and circuit protection can make a check later or prevent it: there is no service-level agreement, no promise of real-time data, and no promise that every opening is seen or delivered.
  4. Alert rules and booked nights Whole-trip alerts are the default. If you choose individual-night alerts too, you may receive more messages. A night marked “Have it” is treated as booked only because you told us so; we cannot verify your Recreation.gov account. We stop individual alerts for that night and keep checking the remaining required nights until you undo it or stop the watch.
  5. You book it You complete the booking yourself on Recreation.gov. We never hold, reserve, purchase, or cancel a permit for you, we never ask for or store your Recreation.gov credentials, and we never handle your permit payment. Our alerts link you into the relevant Recreation.gov booking flow; the rest is between you and the agency.
  6. Support Support is email-only and founder-operated, with a published response target of one business day. That is a target for a first human reply, not a resolution deadline, and it does not run on weekends or United States public holidays.
  7. Cancellation and billing management The paid plan is monthly and begins with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel through Stripe's Customer Portal before the trial ends, Stripe will charge the monthly subscription price after the trial. Your account and the Portal show the subscription state available to you; contact support if you need help understanding it.
  8. Channels, consent, and connections You choose the delivery channels for each watch, and we use only the channels you selected — we never fall back to an unselected channel and we never batch missed alerts into a digest. Email needs no extra step. SMS, where it is offered, is optional, limited to United States and Canadian numbers, requires your explicit transactional consent and a confirmed phone number, may incur message or data rates, honours STOP and HELP, and is capped at ten delivered alert messages in any rolling 24-hour period across all of your watches. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Pending delivery receipts reserve capacity conservatively; your account shows the used count and an honest reset time when one is known. Discord, where it is offered, requires you to authorise a direct-message connection, which you may revoke at any time. Withdrawing consent or revoking a connection stops that channel; it does not close your account.

The plan, in full

One plan, one price, no tiers. A subscription lets you keep up to 10 active watches; paused, completed, expired, deleted, and elapsed watches do not count against that limit. Public itinerary and policy pages remain available without a subscription.

You must be 18 or older to hold an account. The plan is billed in USD and support is provided in English. We may change these terms as the service grows; when we do, we record the new version and ask you to accept it before you continue.
